Marinas In Panama City, Florida

So you're planning to take a trip to the Sunshine State and considering a stop at one of the stunning marinas in Panama City or Panama City Beach, Florida? Well, that's perfect because I've got all the juicy details you need to make the most of your visit. To both visitors looking for a fun and relaxing day out or ambitious boat-owners seeking a berth on the crystal blue waters of the Gulf, these marinas offer a wealth of opportunities.

First off, I love visiting marinas. Marinas are like aquatic versions of large truck stops. At the time of this writing, I'm not a boat owner. I don't know if I'll ever be after hearing the saying, “There is two special times in a boat owners life: When they buys one and when they sells it.” That's not a big selling point!

But I really enjoy taking leisurely strolls to look at other people's great boats. Fishing boats, sail boats, tugs, charters, yachts...I love them all. Not only the boats, but watching them as they sail in and out of the harbor, enjoying the Blue Herons, gulls, pelicans, dolphins, and manatees, seeing the fishermen cast their poles and nets over the rails, hoping to catch a great meal for the day. Coffee in hand is the icing on the cake!

So, let's talk about the marinas...

Marinas In Panama City And Panama City Beach...

Panama City Marina: First is the Panama City Marina, one of the spectacular marinas in Panama City, Florida. This city-owned marina is nestled right in downtown Panama City. As of Summer 2023, it has recently reopened after being severely damaged by Hurricane Michael. It's really sad how badly the storm hurt this particular marina. There is still a good amount of repair work to be done to get it back to it's former self, but the city is working hard to make that so.

Still, you can now walk out and around the docking areas and take in the breathtaking panoramic bay views that'll have you reaching for your camera. The 9/11 memorial there is really cool, so take a few snapshots of that, too.

If you've got hungry mouths to feed, Panama City Marina has got you covered. Enjoy a relaxing brunch, lunch, or dinner at Harrison's Kitchen & Bar. Pairing your food with the amazing bay view definitely boosts the dining experience!

Docking your boat here right now is something that can't happen, no thanks to the hurricane damage, but I'm hoping that will all change in the not so distant future. Check out more about the Panama City Marina.

St Andrews Marina: Next up, the St Andrews Marina is a favorite and very regular haunt of mine. You can read all about this great marina in Panama City right here.

Bristol Harbor Marina: Our third stop is a newer marina to downtown Panama City called the Bristol Harbor Marina. It is located on the waters of the Massalina Bayou, with the Tarpon Dock Bridge nearby. It's a really cool red metal drawbridge that I love to walk along, watching the boats sail in and out of the marina and the people who fish from the sides.

The marina itself boasts brand new fixed docks which include 50 and 20 amp service, water, WiFi, and a pump out at each slip. They work with some solid vendors that will help you get your docked boat in order. If you have a charter business, they are happy to work with you. It's a great, smaller marina to slide in and stay overnight or, hey, forever. It's up to you! Get more info about the Bristol Harbor Marina.

Bayou Joe's is a terrific local restaurant with a lot of character and great water views, sitting just around the corner from the marina. You can find out more about it on my Restaurants page.

Bayside Marina: This friendly marina offers gasoline, ice, and a tackle shop, and is only 7 miles from the Gulf Of Mexico. You can store your boat or rent one of the wet slips. They also have a convenient launch to get your day on the water started off on the right foot. Find out more about them at their website

Pirates Cove Marina: Moving over to Panama City Beach, you'll find the Pirates Cove Marina, located on Grand Lagoon. This family-friendly marina is more than just a place to park your boat. Yes, they offer both dry storage and wet slips but throw in fishing trips and dolphin tours and suddenly all members of the family are happy.

Lucky for you, there's plenty of good eats here too. The on-site seafood restaurant, The Deckhand Social, is a gem for seafood lovers. Seafood Nachos, blackened Red Fish, or a simple Shrimp Po’Boy, you'll find your cravings hitting all corners of the seafood spectrum.

One advantage of choosing Pirates Cove Marina is it's comprehensive facilities. Not only do they offer year-round boat storage (including a 450 rack Mega-Barn), but they also provide a fully stocked bait and tackle shop, fish cleaning facility, ethanol-free gasoline, diesel, and ice. And hey, who doesn’t love a little retail therapy? Their gift shop offers a cool range of souvenirs to remember your fun visit to the marina. Check them out at their web site,

Treasure Island Marina: Our next marina in Panama City Beach, Florida is one of Florida's best-kept secrets - Treasure Island Marina. If you’ve spent your day exploring and now you're yearning for a sunset cruise or a fishing charter, this marina is your go-to spot. It’s a full-service, family-owned marina with a ship's store, boat charters, tours, rentals, and sales, and a nice service center. I really like this marina because it seems so well laid out. I think it speaks to the OCD in me. Also, it's home to the must-do Sea Screamer Dolphin Cruises!

Treasure Island Marina also provides fuel, ice, and a fish cleaning station. And if you decide to dock here, you’ll love the convenience of being a stone’s throw away from restaurants, nightclubs, and shopping. It's a terrific area! Find out more about Treasure Island Marina.

Lighthouse Marina: This is another of the excellent marinas in Panama City Beach, Florida, right along the north shore of Grand Lagoon. They pride themselves on being a full-service marina, providing everything from storage to service, parts to fuel.

This marina is home to the famous pirate ship, Sea Dragon. This is a really terrific adventure that you should consider doing with the family. What fun!

Now, if you love seafood, you'll enjoy dining at The Grand Marlin. From the eating deck, you'll relish the incredible views of the Grand Lagoon while munching on fan favorites like Lobster Fingers or Crab Cake Benedict. Get more info on the Lighthouse Marina web site.

Sun Harbor Marina: Sun Harbor Marina deserves a mention. It's a charming marina conveniently located on the Intracoastal Waterway in Panama City, Florida. It's a great option if you are seeking a serene, relaxing marina atmosphere to unwind or enjoy some fishing.

Sun Harbor offers over 120 slips, slip leases and transient rentals, with modern hookups including electricity, water, and Wi-Fi. Plus, they provide pump-out and laundry facilities. So you have everything to ensure a comfortable stay for you, and your boat.

To relax and unwind, they have the The Shipyard Bar & Grill. Grab some tasty fresh seafood, a drink, and kick back for a while. The restaurant also offers Hook & Cook!

** NOTE ** As a result of damage caused by Hurricane Michael, Sun Harbor is hoping to be fully operational again by the end of 2023. You can get updates from them at their web site.

Capt. Anderson's Marina: Finally, to top it all off, there is the famous Capt. Anderson's Marina. This large marina is owned by two families and sits as the grandfather of all the marinas in Panama City Beach. It's a much shorter list to make of what this marina doesn't offer. Aside from the typical marina fare (boat rentals, gas, ice, etc), it's:

  • The location of the famous Capt. Anderson's restaurant,
  • Where you'll catch ferries to take you over to Shell Island,
  • Where you can take deep sea fishing trips and dolphin encounters
  • And so much more!

You'll find Military and senior discounts here. This is a really great place that you definitely need to come to.

So there you have it, a comprehensive review of the standout marinas in Panama City and Panama City Beach, Florida. They all provide a mix of services that accommodate boaters while offering on-site or nearby eateries to make your visit enjoyable. Remember, they all share a common interest - to make your boat life both fun and relaxing. Or just to entertain forever-tourists like me! Now you're all prepared for a fantastic time at the marinas, finding new places, and creating unforgettable memories. Safe travels and I hope you have a ton of fun!
