Hook And Cook Restaurants In Panama City

What Is Hook & Cook?

Before we talk about the hook and cook restaurants in Panama City and PCB, I need to explain what it even is. If you're not aware of what "hook and cook" is, don't feel bad. I didn't know until I moved to Panama City. The typical tagline goes: “YOU HOOK 'EM AND WE COOK 'EM!” 🐟

In a nutshell, Hook & Cook is when you catch fish with you very own hands (or pole!) and then bring it to a restaurant and have them prepare it for you. I think that is a pretty doggone cool concept! I don't know if that was a thing when I lived in the Pacific NW, but if it was, I had never heard of it.

I'm not a cook. I've never understood the excitement of people who love to take more time in the kitchen, prepping and cooking something up, than it takes to eat it. To me, that just seems like a big waste of precious time and energy. But, there is obviously something to it for a lot of the population. It must be a creative thing.

Hook & Cook seems like a great option for people like me. All I need to do is have it cleaned, boned, and skinned. I don't have to know how to cook the catch, what spices to use, times and temps, and all those other technicalities. I simply catch something and someone else, much more experienced than I, cooks it up for me. And no kitchen to clean up! By the way, my favorite fish is catfish. Just sayin'... 😋

A lot of restaurants that do the ol' Hook & Cook thing will give you the option of adding a couple of their sides to your fish meal, making it something that is sure to satisfy both your palate and your rumbling tummy. It all makes for a very unique, fresh seafood experience.

So, grab your pole, net, or whatever you choose to nab those tasty sea critters with, hit a pier, go down by the bay, or navigate your boat into some deep waters, and then reel 'em in like there was no tomorrow! Once you've pulled in something that you just can't wait to slap down on a plate, take it to one of these hook and cook restaurants in Panama City or Panama City Beach and let the chefs perform their magic:
